Last Saturday I photographed a convention for Phi Alpha Kappa Sorority. They are an organization which raises funds for charity. I have photographed them off and on since 1982, when they held their convention in the local area, though they have used me in recent years in San Diego, Temecula and Buellton. In the film days I take a group photo at noontime, then portraits during their evening party.
On Sunday morning I had to find a photo lab to process the film and print previews. Then I ran back to the convention to show the photos and take orders. With digital photography since 1998, the schedule is the same but now we show the group and all portraits at the event and attendees purchase their photos. Unfortunately this year there was not enough space in the banquet room to set up our studio. We set up our computer and printing system in the banquet room and I took the portraits outside, swapping card with my wife/assistant to enter into the computer.
