Last week, we photographed nursing portraits for Ventura College and CSU, Channel Islands. At Ventura College I had an unexpected photo opportunity.
The blinds of one of the room windows was open creating wonderful lighting on some of our subject’s faces. I use two images as samples.
Window lighting can be a great bonus in portraiture. Photographers, and portrait artists, over the centuries, use indirect sun light from a north facing window as a source for primary and secondary effects on their subjects. In our case at Ventura CC, I had wonderful lighting from the window and secondary light, slightly filling the shadow side of the face, coming from cabinets to camera’s left.
